My mistake! I’m sure it will be. It’ll be fun to be on the other end of this. I’ve gotten a lot of mixed feedback on this weekly chapter format for my own novel, but until now I haven’t really been able to get into the shoes of my readers. I’ve already learned a lot! Ending chapters with cliffhangers, for instance, has been pretty standard practice in popular fiction for ages, but when it’s a weekly serial, I think it’s 10x more important.

Everything is an experiment over here, I'm learning something new every day. I figure once a week won't have me flooding inboxes if I post other stuff between chapters... but then I worry a week between chapters is too long? 🤷‍♀️

I've been sticking with the weekly cadence mostly because I'm writing and rewriting a whole lot of each chapter I publish, and trying to publish any more than that (with my limited writing time) would compromise the quality to the point that I wouldn't feel comfortable with anyone reading it. If the book was basically finished, though, I might consider two, or even three chapters per week. It seems like a majority of my readers want the option to periodically binge.

In my case, the book is "done" but I try to polish up my typos etc before posting each chapter. And I'm actually still doing larger edits to the last 3rd of the book so I wouldn't be able to just post the whole thing yet. But, last Saturday I posted two chapters (a couple hours apart) because one was on the short side, and I'm not opposed to doing that again if enough people want me to. I did notice though, the second chapter I sent out took a lot longer for the view counts to catch up and the open rate was a lot lower. I try not to pay too much attention to the numbers but it's a basic metric. I'm learning as I go.
